I think about this often, being a young black man. Is there any hope for an America who's people are quite literally willing to vote against their own best interests? We're getting increasingly divided because technology allows you to lean heavily into your biases even when we could be using the information age to bridge the gap between communities. Which it is, but the negative aspects of it are more prevalent it seems.
Racism, sexism, all that is the work of idiocy. Idiocy being irrational, something that doesn't make sense in the grand scheme of things. But truth and rationality is a matter of personal choice, as shown by this article. Until this person decided to change, he didn't. So are we just speaking to walls most of the time? Do our efforts matter?

I personally don't think America has ever really been that great for everybody (I am black) but it's got a lot of good things going for it. Too bad people are too focused on dominating others than collaboration and compromise to improve the lives of all. Too bad capitalism has corrupted our government through and through, both parties. I'm 28 and it's hard for me to respect the America previous generations have built. It's a cash grab country, obsessed with creating and then taking advantage of the weak and telling them they deserve it.

The government could fix this shit and choose not to. Their greed and willingness to prey on the individuals who's ignorance props up their base will make sure they continue to fear monger on larger and larger scales.

I'm sorry that you were conditioned in such an evil manner and feel bad that it's happening to so many people. I pray more people can wake up to the fact that they're in the matrix and have had their reality hijacked by wealthy people with ulterior motives.
