I think so many people within the system of capitalism associate positive contributions to being able to buy stuff and that affects dating. I get what you're saying and think that it makes the most sense but I don't see many women divorcing someone's worthiness as a mate from the amount of money they make. Without certain degrees and jobs attached to a man's name, a lot of women will think they're beneath them when it comes to taking them seriously as a mate. I think it's wrong but it is what it is.
I know this isn't the case for all women but general societal attitudes play a role in judging a person's worth and those general societal attitudes don't all of a sudden disappear when it comes to dating or trying to find a mate.
